The Rites of Passage Ministry is a Christian faith, biblically-based program designed to develop boys into mature productive men by illustrating the growth qualities needed for manhood. This program partners boys and young men with mature men to edify and encourage spiritual, educational, vocational, physical, and social growth.

Boys 11 to 14 years of age are eligible to participate. This program places special emphasis on children from single-parent homes, boys who are at risk of alcohol, drug addiction, or premarital sexual activity. We are also concerned about those who are at risk of entering the juvenile justice system or who are in danger of gang involvement.

Prayer Fundamentals Class

The purpose of the Prayer Fundamentals class is simply to introduce our young men to the fundamentals of effectual prayer.

The class is scheduled for two consecutive Saturdays, thus far. Therefore, there will be little time for other than fundamentals. There will be a single homework assignment that is expected to be completed, discussed and signed by both the initiate and his parent and returned for class review on the second class meeting. The assignment will be to read, copy (typed is desirable) and turn in seven verses of scripture (chapter and verse) that contain the word Prayer. An electronic version of the Bible is located on the church website www.faithfulcentral.com.

The primary class discussion will be focused on three topics, who is God, who is Jesus and who is the Holy Spirit. The objective is to promote a since of reverence for Him first and all of His creations, which begins with themselves. We want to help start a dialog based on whom they are praying to and why they should pray.

The point of the homework is for them to verify for themselves what God says about prayer. Again the hope is that it will start a dialog between the initiate and their parent about Godliness.

Two one hour classes surely does not suffice but hopefully will introduce the dialog that will segue them to the assurance of their salvation that the parent can continue.
